Ben Franklin Bridge to be closed Sunday, Nov. 3 for "Run the Bridge" event
An annual race is once again closing the Benjamin Franklin Bridge between Philadelphia and New Jersey for a few hours this weekend.
The 2024 Cooper Norcross Run the Bridge event will shut down the crossing to traffic from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The Delaware River Port Authority, which operates the bridge, said PATCO train service and the pedestrian walkway won't be impacted by the race.
If you need to enter or exit the city on Sunday morning, you'll want to take a different bridge like the Walt Whitman Bridge — though that may lead you toward early tailgaters heading to the Eagles' 4 p.m. game at Lincoln Financial Field.
Other bridges you could take include the Betsy Ross or Tacony-Palmyra.
NJ TRANSIT River Line and bus service suspensions on Nov. 3
The race will also impact service on NJ TRANSIT's River Line. Trains heading south will not pass the Walter Rand Transportation Center (WRTC) from 6:58 a.m. to 10:28 a.m.
Later in the morning, northbound train routes will begin their trips at WRTC. Board at WRTC instead of Waterfront Entertainment Center between 7:52 a.m. and 10:22 a.m.
Since PATCO is the only public transit crossing the bridge during the race, they will honor NJ Transit receipts during this time, NJ Transit said in a news release.
If you're heading to Philadelphia, you can present a receipt to PATCO at WRTC and board. If you're traveling from Philadelphia, go to the PATCO stop at the 8th and Market station and present an NJ Transit receipt – they'll take you across the bridge to WRTC.
NJ Transit bus routes will also be impacted.
